Jalen Ramsey is a third-year cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League, and he has been known for his big mouth on the field against some of the elite wide receivers in the game.
Remember when he and Cincinnati Bengal’s receiver A.J. Green were mouthing off to each other, which led to Green taking him to the ground and punching him several times? That led to the two of them being ejected from the game. We will not be seeing the two face each other this season unless it’s in the playoffs.
But that’s fine because Ramsey has turned his attention to the reporters and quarterbacks in the league, and I honestly think it’s a good thing for the NFL.
During a scuffle that broke out at the Jaguars’ practice, Ramsey sighted the reporter videotaping, and Ramsey tried to intimidate them not to publish it., especially when it’s just a training camp fight between two players competing for a spot on the team. Ramsey threatened to make his teammates ignore reporters. The league suspended Ramsey for a week.
But he recently took on some of the quarterbacks and gave his opinion on them and how good or bad they are. Ramsey isn’t wrong though. Let’s check out some of the comments he made, especially with the amount of success he’s had against these guys.
Even though Ramsey plays on the defensive side, he still backed his team’s quarterback Blake Bortles, despite the struggles he’s had in his career thus far.
The biggest shot that Ramsey took was at the Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen, and he didn’t seem to care too much about what Ramsey had to say.
Ramsey about Allen, “Trash!”
In response to Ramsey, Allen said “He’s not on my team, he’s not my teammate. It doesn’t bother me.”
He may not have said anything now, but if Allen is the starter for the Bills when they face the Jaguars at Buffalo in week 12 this season, Allen will try to prove he’s not trash. I mean, he’ll be the best QB on the Bills team, but let’s see where this rookie goes.
Ramsey also made comments about the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback of the New York Giants, Eli Manning.
Ramsey on Manning, “It’s not really Eli. I think it’s Odell. I won’t say Eli’s good, I’ll say Odell’s good. And their connection is good.”
In response to Ramsey, Manning said “Who?” Manning doesn’t care about that. He’s proven himself as an elite quarterback when he beat potentially the greatest quarterback of all-time twice in the Super Bowl.
So I don’t agree with Ramsey’s comments on Manning. I’ve also been a fan of both the Manning brothers. I know that Eli hasn’t been all that great since his last Super Bowl win over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, but he is still worthy of being one of the better QBs. Don’t worry Ramsey, Manning will show you how good his connection with his WR, Odell Beckham Jr. is during your week one matchup. Be prepared to be amazed, Jalen.
Not all comments were negative though. Ramsey did give some high praises to the younger QBs in the league.
Other Comments by Ramsey:
On Tyrod Taylor: “Actually a better quarterback than he gets credit for, because he does not make mistakes.”
On Deshaun Watson: “He’ll be the league MVP in a couple years.”
On Carson Wentz: Ramsey says Wentz and Watson will be battling for MVP trophy for the next five to 10 years.
On Jared Goff: “average to above average… For what his team asks him to do, yeah, he’s good.”
On Lamar Jackson: going to be good.
This is where I would agree with Ramsey the most. His comments may actually be accurate and it’s good for the NFL. Regardless of what he has said about Allen, Manning, and others, he has fueled them to want to prove they are better. Ramsey saw how big of an impact Watson, Goff, and Taylor were on their teams last season and it’s an appropriate assumption. Watson was tearing up the league along with Wentz before they both got injured, and if they both continue where they left off, Ramsey will be laughing at all who judged his comments. For Taylor, it’s all about a new situation. He indeed has made a name for himself in Buffalo, but a successful restart in Cleveland should again prove that Ramsey’s comments were right. Goff may just be an average QB on a team with a strong defense and huge run game. It kind of sounds like Goff is to the Rams what Bortles is to the Jaguars. Both just doing what the team asks them to do.

Trash talking in for me right now is a major turnoff. Yet someone of what Ramsey says makes sense.

Personally I think he’s a classless jackass. Rodney Harrison (who I enjoyed while playing) stayed if he was in the same locker room as Ramsey he’d shut him up for making it all about himself. He strikex me as an utterly ignorant individual.
