Overall Prediction Records:

Aman: 22-24-1

Cullen: 30-16-1

Mickayeen: 25-21-1

Rahim: 24-22-1

Joel: 21-25-1

Adam: 28-18-1

The NFL season is flying by and we’re already to our Week 5 NFL picks! Heading into Week 5, Cullen Jekel still has the lead, but he’s in a tight race with Adam Hatlan, who is only two games behind. The rest of us still have some catching up to do, so it’s a good thing there are still a lot of games to be played. Will anyone take over the top spot in Week 5? Let’s see who we’re all picking for each Week 5 NFL matchup!

Colts vs Patriots (Thursday)

Aman: Patriots

Cullen: Patriots

Mickayeen: Patriots

Rahim: Patriots

Joel: Patriots

Adam: Patriots

New England got back on track after destroying the Dolphins in a divisional matchup last week. They improved to 2-2, and now have a chance to get to 3-2 against the Colts. First they have to stop Andrew Luck. Luck had a great performance last week, throwing for 464 yards and 4 TD passes. Unfortunately that was ruined by bad play calling.

Can Luck repeat his performance in this Week 5 NFL matchup? He’ll likely have to to beat the Patriots, especially because the Colts don’t have a running game. Last week they combined for 41 total rushing yards. Andrew Luck can’t be asked to do everything. New England has more balance on offense, making it harder for them to be stopped.

Broncos vs Jets

Aman: Broncos

Cullen: Broncos

Mickayeen: Broncos

Rahim: Broncos

Joel: Broncos

Adam: Broncos

Although they didn’t win, Denver was the first team to somewhat slow down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. It took a late comeback for the Chiefs to win after the Broncos frustrated them most of the game. Their defense is going to be the reason why they’re kept in games this year. Hopefully next time they can hold up when it matters most.

That shouldn’t be a problem against the Jets. The Jets got nothing going against the Jaguars’ defense. Sam Darnold was average at best, the running game was bad (34 rushing yards) and the defense gave up 31 points. Look for Denver’s defense to give Darnold and the Jets fits all game.

Packers vs Lions

Aman: Packers

Cullen: Lions

Mickayeen: Packers

Rahim: Packers

Joel: Packers

Adam: Packers

Most of us are picking the Packers to beat the Lions this week, but Cullen is taking the Lions over the Packers. I’m not going to argue with that since he has the best record of all of us right now. This could very well be a game like the one they had against the Patriots. Nobody thinks they’re going to win, but then they come out firing. Matthew Stafford and his receivers have looked good for the most part.

Aaron Rodgers has looked good, but he hasn’t looked liked the same Aaron Rodgers, at least in my opinion. Rodgers’ miracle moments could happen at any time, so even if the Packers are down in this one, don’t count them out. We’ll see what happens.

Giants vs Panthers

Aman: Panthers

Cullen: Panthers

Mickayeen: Panthers

Rahim: Panthers

Joel: Panthers

Adam: Panthers

The Giants have one win this year so far. That win came against the 1-3 Texans. Carolina’s defense is tough, which means the Giants could struggle offensively. They haven’t looked great this year. When they drafted Saquon Barkley, they were hoping he would have an impact like Ezekiel Elliott had for the Cowboys in his rookie season. Barkley has been good, but he hasn’t helped them win games. The attention that was supposed to be taken away from Odell Beckham hasn’t really happened. This struggling team now has to play a fresh Panthers team with a lot of playmakers on both sides of the ball.

Titans vs Bills

Aman: Titans

Cullen: Titans

Mickayeen: Titans

Rahim: Titans

Joel: Titans

Adam: Bills

The Titans are 3-1. I certainly didn’t think they’d be 3-1 at this point in the season. They keep finding ways to win games, which has to have them feeling good about themselves. Now they have a real chance at getting to 4-1 with a win against the Bills. Aside from the victory over the Vikings, the Bills haven’t been good this year. Last week against the Packers they were shut out. Josh Allen was terrible, the running game was bad, and the offensive line gave up 7 sacks!

The Packers got more sacks in that game than they had the previous three weeks of the season! The Titans have been consistent with their pass rush, having 12 on the year. Buffalo leads the league in sacks allowed (21). That should tell you the game plan for the Titans in their Week 5 NFL matchup.

Falcons vs Steelers

Aman: Falcons

Cullen: Falcons

Mickayeen: Steelers

Rahim: Falcons

Joel: Falcons

Adam: Falcons

The Steelers’ problems continue. Ben Roethlisberger continues to have to do too much for this offense. James Conner isn’t getting the job done in the backfield. Last week against Ravens, the Steelers had 19 rushing yards as a team. They can’t keep doing that to Big Ben if they want to win games. Someone named Le’Veon Bell might help…..

Atlanta has problems on defense, but their offense is scoring in bunches. If their offense stays hot against the Steelers, this could be an ugly game. It will be difficult to defend Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and all their offensive weapons. It will be even more difficult if the Steelers’ offense doesn’t move the ball and puts their defense in bad spots.

Ravens vs Browns

Aman: Browns

Cullen: Ravens

Mickayeen: Browns

Rahim: Ravens

Joel: Ravens

Adam: Ravens

Cleveland almost got two wins in a row, but fell just short against the Raiders last week. Baker Mayfield did have some bad plays, but he does look like the future at the QB position for this team. The longer he’s in with the offense, the better they should get.

It will be a tough one this week because the Ravens have one of the better defensive units in the NFL. They currently have the 3rd best defense in terms of points allowed (16.2). That’s a tough defense for a young QB and pretty much an entire new offense to handle. This Week 5 NFL matchup will be a good test for the Browns.

Dolphins vs Bengals

Aman: Bengals

Cullen: Bengals

Mickayeen: Bengals

Rahim: Bengals

Joel: Bengals

Adam: Bengals

The Dolphins were handed their first loss last week by the Patriots. Now they face a 3-1 Bengals team in their Week 5 NFL matchup. Cincinnati sits 4th in points per game entering this week. They’ve got a good offense this year. Before Miami got destroyed by the Patriots, they had been one of the better defense’s in the league. They currently lead the NFL with 9 INTs. The weird thing is that they only have 6 sacks on the season, which is second to last. Miami’s defense could keep them in this game, but we’re all going with the high scoring Bengals.

Jaguars vs Chiefs

Aman: Chiefs

Cullen: Chiefs

Mickayeen: Jaguars

Rahim: Jaguars

Joel: Chiefs

Adam: Chiefs

When it comes to points per game and points allowed per game, this matchup features the best offense vs the best defense. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense was frustrated a little bit against the Broncos, but they bounced back in the fourth quarter. Denver’s defense couldn’t hold up. Can Jacksonville’s? It’ll be interesting to see how Mahomes handles the best defense in the NFL.

Kansas City’s defense has been one of the worst in the league to this point. The Jaguars are average on offense, but it won’t be an easy task for the Chiefs. Who will come out on top in this Week 5 NFL matchup? Will it be the best offense against the best defense? Or will it be an average offense against one of the worst defense’s?

Raiders vs Chargers

Aman: Chargers

Cullen: Chargers

Mickayeen: Chargers

Rahim: Chargers

Joel: Chargers

Adam: Chargers

Oakland finally got their first win, barely. They squeezed one out and finally finished. That was against the Browns and their rookie QB. Now they play Philip Rivers, who is having a great season. Rivers currently sits 7th in QB rating and is tied for second in TD passes thrown. He’s also not turning the ball over a lot (2 INTs on the season). The Chargers are scoring 27.8 points per game, and I’m not sure the Raiders can repeat their high scoring performance from last week. It looks like none of us are.

Vikings vs Eagles

Aman: Vikings

Cullen: Eagles

Mickayeen: Vikings

Rahim: Eagles

Joel: Eagles

Adam: Eagles

This is an interesting Week 5 NFL matchup. Both the Eagles and Vikings have started slowly. They don’t seem to be anywhere near the teams they were a season ago. The Vikings defense, who has a reputation as one of the best defense’s in the NFL, has been getting shredded this year. The Eagles don’t seem to be the same team when it comes to finishing games and scoring high amounts of points. So which team gets back on track this week?

Rams vs Seahawks

Aman: Rams

Cullen: Rams

Mickayeen: Rams

Rahim: Rams

Joel: Rams

Adam: Rams

I’m convinced the Rams are the best team in the NFL right now. Jared Goff is having a great season and is coming off a career performance against the Vikings. Todd Gurley is still Todd Gurley. The offense has a lot of weapons, making it near impossible for them to be covered. The defense is also a force to be reckoned with, and they’re not even at full strength.

Seattle has struggled this year. Russell Wilson has struggled to overcome poor protection at times, and that could be a big problem for them in this game. Seattle’s defense hasn’t been bad, but they just lost their best player in Earl Thomas. We don’t see this Week 5 NFL matchup going well for Seattle.

Cardinals vs 49ers

Aman: Cardinals

Cullen: Cardinals

Mickayeen: 49ers

Rahim: Cardinals

Joel: Cardinals

Adam: 49ers

The 49ers were surprisingly competitive against the Chargers, despite the loss of Jimmy G. Their offense was average, but the defense helped them out a little. The Cardinals offense was also average. Rookie QB Josh Rosen threw a TD pass, but he still didn’t look great. Will he continue to get better with more playing time? Or will the 49ers defense get the best of him?

Cowboys vs Texans (Sunday Night)

Aman: Cowboys

Cullen: Texans

Mickayeen: Texans

Rahim: Texans

Joel: Texans

Adam: Cowboys

Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott finally got the offense going for the Cowboys. They even came through in a clutch moment to put their team in position to win the game, which they did. Can they keep their offense going? They can if they keep giving Zeke the ball. Everyone knows giving Zeke the ball gives them the best chance to win. Not sure why they hadn’t done that before last week.

Houston finally got their first win in OT against the Colts, and they almost didn’t get it. A bad call by the Colts pretty much sealed that victory for them. The Texans are giving up 27 points per game and haven’t been the defense we expected them to be. The Texans looked better offensively, but they’re still ranked 2nd in sacks allowed this year. Dallas ranks third in sacks. Which struggling offense will continue to play better in this Week 5 NFL matchup?

Redskins vs Saints (Monday Night)

Aman: Redskins

Cullen: Saints

Mickayeen: Saints

Rahim: Saints

Joel: Saints

Adam: Saints

The Saints are 3-1 and the Redskins are 2-1. Will coming off a bye week help or hurt the Redskins? Right now Washington is giving up just 14.7 points per game, but the Saints are scoring 34.2 points per game. On the other hand, the Saints are allowing an average of 30.2 points per game.

Will the Saints’ offense continue to have to score in bunches? With Drew Brees, Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara, it shouldn’t be a problem. But if they do have troubles, will their defense be able to keep them in the game against Alex Smith, Adrian Peterson and company?
