He Does It Again!

On this Memorial Day when we remember the fallen, many NBA fans around the world were hoping to be remembering the fallen LeBron James and Cleveland Cavaliers. Instead, we remember the fallen Boston Celtics team who almost went to the NBA Finals. Sorry Celtics fans, LeBron still rules the Eastern Conference.

LeBron James has now led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals for the fourth straight year, while getting himself to the Finals for the eighth year in a row. LeBron has said this season has been his toughest yet. The Cavs have been up and down all season long with trades and what not. Despite all the challenges, the greatness of LeBron James has once again lifted his team to heights not many believed they could reach.

If you’re a LeBron hater, you probably hate him a little more now. On the other hand, if you love LeBron, as I do, you’re amazed by his greatness once again and don’t understand how anyone can hate this guy. The amount of criticism LeBron has taken throughout his career has been unlike anything I’ve ever seen. In his younger days, the criticism was about how he hadn’t won a championship. Then he won a championship, but did the criticism stop? No. Then the criticism moved to, he only has one championship or he only has two championships. When LeBron won the championship in Cleveland, the hate went away briefly, but quickly came back to “well he still doesn’t have as many championships as Jordan.” Now it’s how many losses LeBron has in the Finals. What do you want from this man people? LeBron has accomplished so much more with so much less than any other NBA player ever could.

Throughout his career, LeBron has lifted teams who everyone doubted to new heights nobody thought they could reach, and in my opinion that outweighs everything else. Jeff Van Gundy said last night that LeBron will “never have a greater accomplishment” than getting this Cavaliers team to the NBA Finals. I disagree that he will never have a greater accomplishment. I don’t think anything can top winning the NBA Finals after being down 3-1 to a Warriors team who had the best record in league history, but I do think LeBron taking this team to the Finals is an incredible achievement. Nobody thought they’d be here, and here they are. Remember when we weren’t sure if the Cavs would make it out of the first round?

I’m sure most people are already counting out the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, regardless of who they’ll be playing. I refuse to count them out. Whether it’s the Golden State Warriors or Houston Rockets, I believe the Cavaliers can win. It will not be easy by any means, but I’ve learned never to count out LeBron James, no matter who’s on his team.

We are all witnesses to the greatness of LeBron James. He’s led his team to the biggest stage in the NBA once again for another shot at an NBA title for the city of Cleveland. Regardless of a Cavaliers win or loss in the NBA Finals, LeBron’s greatness will be there for all of us to see. After tonight’s Western Conference Finals Game 7, get ready to sit back and witness the greatness that is LeBron James in the NBA Finals.

  1. LeBron’s greatness on the court is close to unmatchable. I think he’ll continue to get criticism, though, especially when he continues to make veiled shots at his teammates, coaches, etc., in interviews and as his own personality.

Why did LeBron bring up the trade deadline in his post-game on-court interview last night? Why was he laying on the floor when his team was receiving the ECF trophy (“oh I gotta’ talk again,” something like that at least, is what he said).

His stats are ridiculous. But he’s so goddamn cryptic sometimes.
