For any of you die-hard football fans, you have been watching Hard knocks in the month of August for a couple of years now. Hard Knocks allows you to get an in-depth look at the team and how their training camp is going from the first practice to final cuts for the 53 man roster. It is such a fun show to watch as you get to hear all the cursing that usually is bleeped out by ESPN or Fox or any other king of big time network. One of my favorite moments from Hard Knocks in the past was Rex Ryan. Guy was the best person ever on the show. From him saying “let’s go get a f**kin snack” or when he bought the entire team shake weights. Was just some funny stuff and really let you feel like you were a part of the team.

Now the reason I’m writing this is because I don’t understand how if you’re the Cleveland Browns, you approve this and let HBO come into your locker rooms. You just drafted Baker Mayfield, who has some issues recently. He got in trouble in college once and sports fans say his attitude is too much like Johnny Manziel’s. There was basically a lot of heat on the Browns bringing in this guy. It makes total sense for HBO however. You get to have a 24/7 look at players on the Browns, a lot of whom have had a checkered past. Here’s a little short list, Josh Gordon, Baker Mayfield, Antonio Callaway, and Caleb Brantley. These are all players who have had some issues with the law here and there. On a good note, you have recently acquired Jarvis Landry, Tyrod Taylor and Carlos Hyde. These guys are coming into Cleveland after not being wanted back on their previous teams.

The Browns have to be able to keep everyone in order, and if you look at some of the moves they made, they paired a lot of the rookies they drafted with veteran players at the same position. I think this balance will be important in having fun in training camp, but not going to far with being reckless. You have the Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield combo, which I think is great for Mayfield to learn from a player with a similar skill set. Carlos Hyde with Georgia rookie running back Nick Chubb and Jarvis Landry coming here to mentor young guys like Josh Gordon and Antonio Callaway. The defensive side of the ball is going to have some characters for HBO. Jabrill Peppers will most likely be the star of the show. While he was at Michigan the man was famous for catching balls off the jug machine. Myles Garrett I expect to be the runner-up, as he is a larger than life person, and of course rookie Denzel Ward will try to get in on the action.

Hue Jackson has a terrible record of 1-31, so putting himself even more in the spotlight is crazy. Hopefully we get to see how he really is as a coach. Players around the league have said good things about him, so hopefully we can see that. I think there is a great chance for this to be one of the better Hard Knock series in recent memory. It has been bland in recent memory, so I am really looking forward to it, and you guys should too.

  1. I am most interested in seeing how Hue Jackson can motivate the team to forget last year’s 0-16 record and move on in a positive way. Expect cameo appearances of Jm Brown,Bernie Kosar….
